CHIENGE DISTRICT WELCOMES E-GP SYSTEM INITIATIVE AS ZPPA ORIENT LOCAL SUPPLIERS AND CONTRACTORS.

The Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) has conducted an orientation for suppliers and contractors in Chienge District on the use of the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) platform. The e-GP system is a web-based platform designed to facilitate the entire tendering process, from start to finish, for both buyers and suppliers. It provides a secure and interactive environment for procurements of any complexity or value, promoting best practices and

Speaking during the orientation, Chienge Town Council Human Resource Director, Mr. Tony TEMBO , sitting in for the Council Secretary Mr. Hamweende Mpande, praised the Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) for taking the initiative to re- orient the local suppliers and contractors on the e-GP system.

Mr TEMBO says the ultimate go of the orientation is to encourage wider participation in the e-GP system, enabling more suppliers to contribute to development projects in Chienge District and the country at large.

He is however hopeful that local contractors and suppliers will next time turn out in huge numbers to learn and understand the e-Gp system.

He has however emphasized that the orientation is a positive step towards promoting local economic growth and development in Chienge District.

Annie Phiri emphasized that the system is an automated and impartial, without feeling thereby being able to select eligible contractors based on predetermined criteria.

She highlighted the benefits of the e-GP system, including reduced opportunities for corruption and lower costs.
And another e-GP officer Harrison Mutale provided in-depth guidance on the e-GP system and tendering process, explaining relevant modalities and policies.

He added that the orientation was aimed to enhance understanding and utilization of the e-GP platform, promoting a more transparent and efficient procurement process.”
